Greg's first priority is building a relationship with his clients. He believes that listening to people, hearing their dreams and plans for the future, is the best foundation from which to create a successful financial or retirement plan. He is dedicated to building long-term relationships based on exceptional service.

Prior to joining Shelgren Financial Group, in 2000, Greg was a teacher and coach in the Clover Park School District. As a former teacher, he is familiar with the unique financial planning and retirement needs of education employees. He is also knowledgeable of other state retirement systems and private employer plans. He enjoys working with a broad spectrum of clients, from those newly hired for their first job to those approaching retirement ... and beyond.

A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, Greg earned Bachelor's Degrees in Secondary Education and American History. He is married to Janet, who is an elementary school reading specialist. Greg and Janet, along with their son, Drew and daughter Emma, live in University Place.

As a much sought after speaker, Greg presents at numerous engagements each year, from district retirement seminars, to new employee orientations and various association gatherings. He is an Investment Advisor Representative of Lincoln Investment Planning, LLC. (FINRA Series 66) and a General Securities Representative of Lincoln Investment Planning, LLC. (FINRA Series 7). Additionally, he holds both life and disability insurance licenses. As the Director of Training for Shelgren Financial Group, Greg mentors new Financial Advisors as they begin their careers. He has been recognized as a Five Star Wealth Manager for that last five consecutive years; 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 & 2012.

1) Credentialed as an investment advisory representative (IAR) or a registered investment advisor;
2) Actively employed as a credentialed professional in the financial services industry for a minimum of five years;
3) Favorable regulatory and complaint history review;
4) Fulfilled their firm review based on internal firm standards;
5) Accepting new clients;
6) One-year client retention rate;
7) Five-year client retention rate;
8) Non-institutionalized discretionary and/or non-discretionary client assets administered;
9) Number of client households served;
10) Educational and professional designations.

To qualify as having a favorable regulatory and complaint history for this award, the person cannot have (1) been subject to a regulatory action that resulted in a license being suspended or revoked, or payment of a fine, (2) had more than a total of three customer complaints files against them (settled or pending) with any regulatory authority of Five Star Professional’s consumer complaint process, (3) individually contributed to a financial settlement of a customer complaint filed with a regulatory authority, (4) filed for bankruptcy, or (5) been convicted of a felony.
